Hello dear members.
We are happy to see that you are so concerned about the group!
We had some talks with members about this before, and finally we thought it would be better to make a journal so you aren't left in confusion:
The 1 year submission limit was set because a lot of admins of ours were away for the vacation and so we had a huge stack of submissions plus a lot of pieces expired.
We were also, like some of you assumed, experiencing glitches with the voting system in the past. Submissions that were already voted on appeared again later as "not being voted on" and for that reason expired.
(All submissions normally need more than 1 vote to be approved)
We needed to empty the stack as much as possible in order to see if this was just a feeling of ours, and we wittnessed voted on pieces appearing again and again for up to 3 times, or pieces showing up out of "nowhere" that should have been voted on. Fixing such problems isn't possible with hundrets if not thousands of deviations waiting for us to be voted on.
What we are working on while the 1 year limit is set (which we think is a better solution than disabling submissions alltogether) is:
- Browsing expired submissions and request the ones that were missed for our galleries
(this is partly a reason why you keep seeing new paintings being submitted)
- Changing the voting system so it'll work faster and better in the future
- Test the new voting system
- Introduce new admin who is going to help us on how this group is working
Lastly, if you wish to help us out as an admin or moderator you can always drop us a note.

Thank you very much!
